Here's the path of someone who comments, with the default texts. You can change every one of them in the automation editor.
1. The reply to the comment
Right after the comment, a short public reply, like "in your dm 🙌". It gives the person a heads-up and shows everyone that the post works.
2. The first DM
The first message is a private reply to the comment: Instagram allows one per comment, up to 7 days after it. For someone who's never chatted with you, it may land in Message requests.
With "Ask to follow" off
The link goes straight out:
With Soft or Strict
First, a request for a tap. This message never carries the link:
The tap (or a reply like "yes", "send it", "done", "followed") opens the conversation. Then falatu checks whether the person follows you.
Follows you (Soft or Strict):
Doesn't follow, on Soft: gets the link anyway, with an invite:
Doesn't follow, on Strict: gets asked to follow:
If they tap "Já segui" without following, they get one last reminder ("I can't see your follow yet 👀…"). After that, silence.
Details that make a difference
- The link always goes as text too, because the button doesn't show on every phone or on Instagram in a browser.
- "Typing…": before the follow-up DMs, falatu shows it's typing for a second or two, like a human.
- One message per minute per person: someone who comments on two of your posts doesn't get everything twice. Both links arrive together.
- The tap is good for 24 hours and the request expires in 7 days. After that, Instagram won't let you reply anymore.
- If the person writes something else in between (a question, a photo), falatu doesn't answer: it goes to Needs you.
- With Show "or reply YES" on (in Automation defaults), the request also says "or reply YES", for people who can't see the button. Even with it off, anyone who types YES or FOLLOWED gets the link.
